Dude keeps bugging me to post about this commercial that bothers me. I told him to post it on his blog, but he says that his blog is too "high brow" for that sort of thing. Umm. ok then.
Anyway, I hate to admit that I pay this much attention to TV commercials, but it's a new one for Century 21, and it portrays a couple that is debating the purchase of a new home. The wife wants it, the husband is hesitant.
Her: I love that house
He: (looks doubtful)
Her: Plus the schools
He: The kids are 1 & 3
Her: The kids are going to grow up.
He: (gives her another doubting look)
Her: What? (sneer) What?!? C'mon, Suzanne put this together.
Suzanne: John you can do this...
(and Suzanne and Wifey proceed to browbeat John into agreeing to buying the new house. happy ending la la la)
And THIS is where my problem is, Suzanne is their realtor/friend and she is LISTENING IN ON THE SPEAKERPHONE! WHILE THEY ARGUE! Maybe my Midwestern upbringing is showing, but you just don't do that. Something as important as buying a new house? No way. It makes me uncomfortable to even think about it happening. Also, the way the wife sneers on the "What" line makes me want to punch her. Seriously.
In other news, I have been craving a Guinness something fierce lately. Maybe because it's March, maybe because I'm Irish, maybe because Dude went to Kierans, maybe because I haven't had one in at least a year. And the faux Guinness in the can/bottle will not do. It must be on tap. But in general, bringing babies into bars is frowned upon. Maybe that has changed since you can't smoke in them anymore? There must be some restaurants that also serve Guinness? Do you think Grandpa would still babysit if I told him the reason was "so I can go have a beer. or two. or three."? (the answer to that is yes, Grandpa would still babysit. Hell, Grandpa would babysit if I had to go pee or go get the mail. Grandpa loves to babysit.)
And now for a little Geek Humor, go here.

The Liffey has a little more of a restaurant feel, so you might feel more comfortable bringing her there. And they DEFINITELY have Guinness!
*sigh* I miss having Pumpkin's grandparents close enough to babysit!
BabyPants came to Kierans with us once and nobody seemed to raise eyebrows. She was just tucked away in her carseat-carrythingy (are they still called carseats when you're not in the car with them?) and all was fine.
Also, I've seen that commercial. As soon as it ended, Puck and I looked at each other in complete mutual WTF? I mean, yes, I want to use Century 21 just like that completely dysfunctional couple who don't listen to each other, disrespect each other publicly and turn over their lives to their realtor! Can I, please? (That "What" really is smack-worthy.) I haven't been that turned off by a commercial since the Dodge ones with the couple where she's all "Safety features to protect our precious little baby!" and he obviously thinks she's an idiot and is all "Hemi so my boy'll grow up to be a Real Man." Hate.
...okay, I obviously need to step away from the TV.
Yes, Babypants has been to Kieran's. We just put her under the table and she barely made a peep. Ok, that's not true, but she's been there and she was quite young at the time. I don't think I would bring her now, as we have entered the no-man's land where it will now be years before we go out in public again due to the screaming and throwing of objects.
But Atilla should be fine.
Even our relator, who was a long time friend of The Wife's family, wasn't there to here us argue...but Puck and Pusher were. Ya, stupid commercial.
I like the Tripod vid, I would like it to state on the record that I have NEVER said that, EVER.
You could take her to the Local during the day, as long as you didn't set her up on the bar....
