This post is about TV

So I am still watching Grey's Anatomy. It's awful and schmaltzy and I only like maybe 3 of the characters and yet, I still feel the need to watch. I do love the soundtrack- they pick some great songs for that show. However, most of it is predictable and written terribly.

I am also still watching Desperate Housewives. Who knows why. I can't stand Teri Hatcher and her "character". The story line really doesn't have anywhere to go and it's slipped into soap opera writing long ago. Not to mention the giant gaping holes that you could fly a small plane through. Marcia Cross got lots of chances to look "stunned" this last week and that was amusing, and Felicity Huffman and the guy who plays her husband get storylines that make it seem like they are on a completely different show... But still, I watch.

I've picked up watching Brothers and Sisters after DH. And it's ok. Some of it is really good, though I wish they had kept Tom Skerritt. But on the other hand, it has BOTH Sally Field and Calista Flockheart, as a mother and daughter. So far Calista hasn't bothered me too much, but Sally makes me want to stab my eardrum with a fork. Also, I can't keep all the brothers on this show straight. One is a gay lawyer, and one is an alcoholic/druggie, and one is a normal guy, but they all act so much alike that they might as well be one guy. Also, this show is a little bit draining. All of the passive aggressive interaction is just a bit too much like my real family interactions and really, who needs more of that?

I've also started watching Studio 60- which I really like. It's written by Aaron Sorkin and he can only write in one way, so it's a bit like watching West Wing, but I liked that show too so it's ok. The fast pace is great and the writing is pretty witty and intelligent if a little heavy handed politically. There are some great actors on the show (though I might be the only one who is glad to see Timothy Busfield back on TV) but Sarah Paulson as Harriet is really not working for me. She supposed to be a love interest for Matthew Perry and I am just not feeling it. Also she is supposed to be super christian baptist girl and she is supposed to be some super funny comedic genius. Yeah, not feeling that either. In fact none of the skits they have done on the show within a show have been funny. Which is either intentional (since SNL is no longer funny either and it's supposed to be based on that type of show) or they just don't care that it's not all that funny since it's not the point of the show. Anyway, I've read that this show might be on the chopping block and even though it's got some problems to work out, I would still hate to see it go. Though I do think if they gave the Harriet character less screen time, or wrote her out entirely, it would be much better. I love that it's not another cop/hospital/courtroom drama though.

My real new fave is Heroes. I LOVE this show! It's really really good and I am totally addicted. Hiro is my favorite character. He can bend time and space. How cool is that?

I am so very with you on Heroes. Best new show this season by far (well...I shouldn't say that as I have really only watched a couple of them. Regardless, it's a good, clever ensemble show). I love how over just the first few episodes, you can see the beginnings of the convergence for these characters, and you can also see foreshadowing of the archetypal "Villains" and "Heroes." Great stuff.

I also think Hiro's my favorite character. I think it's because he's the one most us can identify with the most...sort of a normal, every day nerdly, schlub who's kinda funny lookin' and has a sucky job. And who discovers he can bend time and space. Not that's entertainment! :)

I am so embarrassingly in love with Hiro. So cute! I want to carry him around in my pocket.
