Focking Canadians

Ok well, that is a little harsh, since it is not really the Canadian's fault. Turns out that even though the big linen store web site said that my curtain was IN STOCK, it was not actually in stock and is no longer available. The sweet Canadian woman who was helping me out (she is also named Jen, which instantly made me like and trust her) even tried to look for the curtain in two stores this weekend, and when she didn't see them, a manager told her that they were clearance items, so they had already been shipped back to make way for seasonal holiday items. *sigh* So no curtain panels for me. Bugger. I may try to make one last impassioned phone call to the company, but after that, unless it turns up on e-bay, I will just have to let it go. Canadian Jen has also already refunded my money too- so yay for internet strangers!

I bought that new Sarah McLachlan Christmas CD. I really really like it. It's very mellow and relaxing and pretty. It won't make you feel like shopping, but it will make you want to snuggle up under a blanket in front of a roaring fire.

I finished classes on Saturday so now this week is all about getting the loose ends from that tied up and getting ready for Attila's birthday party on Saturday. It's a small thing, just family, but I have some family members coming who have never been to my house before, so of course, I feel the urge to clean from top to bottom, and decorate like crazy. I think I have OCD when it comes to hosting anything. I obsess over the tiniest little thing that no one else will ever notice. Do you do that too? If you don't, how on earth do you cope and get ready?

It's my mother's fault. She had us clean like crazy every time someone came over and made it seem like it was the end of the world. So now I'm the same way. Things no one would possible notice...except for me....

Yeah, clean top to bottom (as much as possible with a toddler around) and make the guest room(s) look cozy and presentable. And make sure there's toothpaste and stuff in the big bathroom. And try to figure out how much accumulated "stuff" in the dining room I need to deal with and how much I can cram into the hutch... I think I'm with you on the cleaning thing!

Everyone does it. As long as it's just cleanng and not major renovation, you're normal. Did I menton this is why we never have people over?
