You know those people who want to have cool creative pumpkins, but don't have the guts to freehand it, so they buy those pre-designed cut outs books and use that to cheat and make it look like they have mad pumpkin carving skillz? Yeah- that's totally me:
I don't know if it's just because I haven't been trick or treating in years or what, but we had so much fun last night. We always get lots of kids at our door, but I had no idea how involved the whole neighborhood was- nearly every light on our block was on. Plus it was the first time we've taken Attila TOTing, so that made it extra fun as well. She didn't quite get that she had to hold out her bag to get some candy in it, but she loved knocking on the doors and saying "treat treat!" (which is as close as she gets to "Trick or Treat".) At one house we stopped at, they had PBS on and she was leaning so far over the door frame to see their TV, I thought she was going to walk in and sit down. She walked most of the time and was constantly waving and saying "hi" to all the big kids. When it was time to come home, we headed up our drive way and she started yelling "No, no!" and turned around and ran back down the driveway to hit more houses. So I think she liked it.
The biggest hit from her treat bag? "JUICE! JUICE!" - she got a Capri Sun thing of lemonade and you'd think it was the nectar of the gods or something. The pencils were a big hit too- which works out well because that leaves more snickers bars for her father and I. Sorry no costume pictures- they are all too blurry, I am going to have to try again after nap time... She was a monkey and monkeys do not hold still. Especially in low light.

I thought you were talking about me for a moment when you said, "You know those people who...?"
I used to carve my pumpkins like that, too. Until we moved to Florida. It's too warm for real ones so everyone buys the fake, precut kinds. I refuse because the whole point of a jack-o-lantern is in the creation of it, right along with baking the seeds!
You've convinced me,,, I'm cheating next year! My carving skills are dismal,,, sadly dismal.
