Scary Halloween costumes

So Attila wants to be a "rain cloud" for Halloween. Yes, a rain cloud. I have no idea where she came up with that one. (I also have no idea where she came up with her imaginary friend "Warma" who apparently looks a little bit like a pickle and likes to wear hats. I guess at 2.5 you have your own things going on. Dude mentioned today that it's a little bit like living with someone who is stoned much of the time. When she is hungry, she is hungry NOW. She always wants to eat cookies or cheese and there are many times when there are imaginary things happening that we have no idea what they are about, but we play along anyway. Also, she uses the word "Probably" all the time. As in, "Probably, I should have some cookies now." Anyway, it's a fun age.)
Back to the rain cloud...
So we've been randomly discussing how to make a rain cloud costume. (surprisingly, I don't have that particular one in my costume storage!) I was thinking felt, but Dude thinks tulle is the way to go.
In the car today he was telling me his latest design, with layers of tulle and silver mylar "rain" and then some kind of hat that looks like a thunder head cloud. And there is whimpering from the back seat.
"What's wrong Attila?"
"I'm scared of my Halloween costume!" (she doesn't like thunder)
So we try to reassure her that there will be no actual thunder, her costume won't make noise but she is having none of it. She says, "Probably I'll be a ladybug instead."

Hrmmm.. I can see the fear issues. You could go with a giant "sack" type thing for her torso and then stuff it with balloons or some such for a lumpy appearance. Elastic at the bottom to keep them from coming out. Put her in tights with rain drops on them...

Or probably she could be a ladybug. M is going to most likely be a monkey, because she's so good at the sound and she likes them so much. However the 2-3 sized costume we got her is too small, so I need to figure something else out.

Wow you guys are detailed in your costumes! Here I was just thinking grey colored trash bag filled with crumpled newspaper.

Attila's "probably" was Pumpkin's "actually" at our house. And actually, Pumpkin's going to be a butterfly princess. I think we've got enough princess-y and butterfly things that we should be able to throw it together no problem.

Tulle would be prettier, but gray sack/bag with balloons would be easier. HILARIOUS that she was scared of her costume!

Probably she can be a ladybug instead, actually. :)
