In which I recall the last um... week or so

Have you ever noticed that the less you post on your blog the easier it is to forget/talk yourself out of a new posting? Just me?

Anyway- it's getting to be a bit hectic around here. I've got the end of terms coming up for school, which means putting on 2 shows, plus trying to get the advertising and recruiting stuff done so that I have students for next term too. Then there is all the holiday stuff, which yes, I know everyone has, and truly most of the time I really enjoy it, but right now it just looks like things on a To-do list. And then there is all the getting ready to have a baby stuff. Another long To-do list. On Monday I actually sat down and made about 4 monster lists just so I wouldn't have all that stuff in my head. It did help. But it's not getting crossed off very fast. And I keep adding to them.

Other things:

  • I messed up my NaBloPoMo earlier in Nov. so I didn't even try to do the last couple of days, since we were out of town. Ah well, maybe next year! (for the record I did do 1 more day than the last time I tried it back in 2006. 28 this time vs. 27 then. So that's... something. )
  • You really haven't played Rock Band until you've played with family. My cousin has the whole set up (and a new huge TV) and it's become tradition that we play over there on Thanksgiving. It's hilarious to watch my Dad and my uncles try to keep up with the younger kids. They all channel their 1960's rock heroes. And then my other cousin (who is 9) who LOVES to play and - because he is 9- he thinks he is really good. At one point he actually said "Singing in my strength" when really? Kid shouldn't quit the day job. (I can't get his rendition of Wave of Mutilation out of my head. It was sooo bad, but sooo funny. I haven't laughed that hard in a really long time.) Though the Dude says that compared to my cousin's guitar playing, the singing really is his strength.
  • We celebrated our 7 year anniversary! I was going to put up a pic, but I don't have any on this computer so you lose this time. Maybe next year. We went out to eat and then we went to WICKED. Because nothing says "Happy Anniversary" like going to a musical about the Wicked Witch of the West. :) I've wanted to see it for a long time, and the first time it was in town, it sold out before I could get tickets. So this time, I went online right when they went on sale to make sure to get them and just happened to get seats on the same date as our Anniversary. Even so, things were very picked over, so we didn't have the best seats (way down on house left) but they weren't horrible either. (I really don't mind being able to glimpse some of the backstage stuff- and there was very little we saw with this one anyway) At least we got to sit together, the woman next to me was sitting 2 rows in front of her husband. It was very good, all I had hoped for, and Dude really liked it too so we had fun.
  • It's cold. I can not believe that next month I am going to think of 20 degrees above zero as being "balmy". I know it will happen, it always does, but the acclimation phase just sucks. I think I have to get out my warmer coat. Though today it dawned on me that it could just be that I am used to being able to walk faster, and now I have to walk at the speed of a 3 yr old - who is quite bundled up and couldn't care less that Mama is cold. Also she's told me more than once that she "likes the cool breeze." Definitely her father's child.
  • I also got to spend last weekend with old friends and it was so great. It had been way way too long and I really need to try to see Bullinger and her family way more often. (our girls are so good together, and we have similarly laid back parenting styles so it works really well all around.) It was Attila's first sleepover at a friend's house though, and it took a LONG time to get them all to go to sleep. It was very funny all the trouble they found to get into. We also got some time to hang out sans children and that was just devine. I wish we could do it every weekend.
  • I hate the news lately. Usually I am kind of a news junkie and I like listening to NPR and reading feeds online. But lately, it's all depressing and I can't deal.
  • Except for gas prices, I will read any headline about gas prices.

i have found that doing NaBloPoMo makes me want to comment less.

i do read all the blogs in my reader it is just that finding the words to comment after having to write something every day becomes a chore.

now that that it is all over, i'm going to try and get back into commenting more.

i'm also thinking about doing more on facebook.
