See? This was at 34 Weeks:
And this was at 37 Weeks:
(this one is a little closer I guess, so it's not a great comparison, but still, the belleh is bigger and pointier)And now I am somehow already 38 weeks!
Sorry my posts have not been very well thought out lately. I guess we are going to have a baby soon, and I just have no mental capacity left. No, we are not at ALL ready. No, we have no name selected (well, we have a short list but I am not sure I really REALLY love any of them...)
We did get Attila moved out of her crib and into the big girl room and the big girl bed (she loves both) but I haven't moved her bookcase yet or any of her clothes out of her old dresser or closet.
This is the dresser that she "helped" me paint-
it looks 100 times better white than it ever did in our room.
We should have painted it ages ago!
Yes, her room is very pink and more girl-y than I ever thought I would have in my home. Very very pink. But she is 3, and that's what she wanted. In 5-7 yrs she will get tired of it (please god) and we can re-decorate. Until then, I am going to make her listen to a lot more Morrisey, Ministry and Joy Division.it looks 100 times better white than it ever did in our room.
We should have painted it ages ago!
The sleeping in the big bed is going better. We did the Super Nanny "wait outside the door and put them back in the bed" thing for a couple of nights, but it got pretty long (45+ min.) and was drama filled. (for her, not us) And it wasn't getting any shorter. So now, after the bedtime routine, I just sit on the end of her bed for a few minutes until she is "sleepy" (i.e. stops talking and wiggling) and then I leave. Takes about 5 min- 10 min. It's do-able and works for now. *knocks on all kinds of wood*
No, I have not unpacked or washed any baby clothes. No,I don't have a bag packed for the hospital. No, I have not bought any diapers. No, we have not installed the car seat. No, I haven't gotten out the baby swing or the bouncy seat. No, I have only a general idea where my pump is, and have only briefly thought about what new parts I have to buy. People keep asking me if we are ready and the only answer is No, no and no.
Yes, I know, the baby could come at any time (but really, she is not going to) and honestly, if she did? We would deal. Everything would get done. They just really don't need much at first. (I keep reminding myself that I really believe that.) Also, I have a very competent husband who's been through this once and if I told him "the carseat is under the stairs and the baby clothes are in the blue bin, throw one in the wash and one in the car" he would be fine.
Also, please know, this is not just second baby syndrome. We finished Attila's room 9 days before she arrived. (1 wk before her due date.) See? I've got time. And a history of procrastination paying off. ;)
I am actually hoping to get some of those things crossed off my list this week, but even though I am still feeling good overall, I get frustrated because I can't just plow though stuff like I am used to. I get worn out pretty easily. It's a little harder to bend over, a little harder to get up and down off the floor. Stuff like that. Just starting to feel my limits I guess.
Also, my classes have started again, so I am trying to get things underway there (student numbers are down - $#%*& economy!) and tied up at the same time. A coworker/friend is taking over my classes when I do have the baby, she can cover 2-3 weeks for me and I hope to have everything she needs ready to go. Last week, I was telling the kids that T would take over for me when the baby came and one of them asked me "How long have you known you were going to have a baby?! Did you just find out??" I guess he thought I had been eating too many Oreos.

We basically paid off family to come a week and half before she was born to finish her room. I understand.
You can also call your SIL to pick up anything you need should the show up unexpectedly. Especially considering how helpful you were to us. You did install our car seat for us after all.
Yay belleh!
Love the belleh shots!
The quote at the end made me snort-laugh. Some people do just look... larger (aka fatter) when they're pregnant, but THAT is definitely a preggers belly! Yay!
Good luck getting every...scratch that - MOST things done. Both mine came 2 weeks early, so procrastination not great for us. Granted, it took us 24 hrs of each of them being BabyGirl OurLastName before we got names, so I wouldn't worry too much about the name - you can try them on her when she comes. :)
Good luck, and remember - Push, don't squeeze! (Aka, pushing feels like pooping - I read it at Mighty Girl and would she steer us wrong?)
Um, "YOU wrong!" No announcements here, thank God!!!
When we were starting the open adoption, MIL asked what if (um, best case scenario) we were just picked out of the book by someone already at the hospital? That, my friends, is what MasterCard is for. All you need is a car seat and some diapers to take a kid home.
And it's not like you won't have a day in the hospital after she's born for your husband to work those things out or delegate appropriately.
See? No worries.
Oh, and we went to the hospital both times with just a list of names.
