We might have a baby for a Valentine...

I went in for a Non Stress Test this morning (which just means that they measure the baby's heart rate and make sure it is steady and that it goes up a bit when the baby moves. They also track contractions.) The baby is fine- totally normal heart rates, had a couple of movements and a couple of minor contractions and then the baby fell asleep. (I think I might have drifted off a little too- but you try to stay awake in a semi-darkened room while you are lying down and listening to: *wump*wump*wump*wump*wump*wump*wump*) So that is good!

I am also up to 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced- which is great- but this little girl is still up pretty high- which doesn't mean anything except that the midwife won't break my water.
AND our hospital of choice is currently full! (#%&#$ Full moon babies! *shakes fist*)  So if I went into labor tonight or early tomorrow, I'd be sent to the backup hospital - but it's very similar, and I'd have my same midwives, so shouldn't be a problem.

If I don't go into labor on my own, I go back for another NST  Friday late tomorrow- just to be sure baby is doing alright, and then the plan is that I would go to the hospital on Sat morning and get the Cervidil (sp?) gel to see if that (and some more walking) could get things started.

Have I told you how much I love my midwives? I love them, they are so great about being reassuring but also asking me how I want things to go.

I guess I should probably go pack a bag or something...

Ok, shocked you didn't have the bag packed for the apt. I'll never make that mistake again.

NST's are good, they key is to eat something sugary right before so the kid is awake and moving around. I had them a lot towards the end, and next time (if there is a next time) I will get them weekly after 20 weeks or so.
