Back when I worked for TV ("selling air" we liked to joke- hahaha! sooo funny!) we had something called a "make good"- If your commercial didn't run when it was supposed to, or didn't run the right number of times, or ran in the wrong show or something- then you would ask for a make good, and the station would try to run your commercial again, either in your orignal spot, or they would offer you something of equal value.
I would like a make good for this morning.
Attila is in a dress phase and she will ONLY wear desses. All day. Every day. (Seriously, who's kid is she? I have like 2 dresses, which I've worn a grand total of one time each.) Whatever, she is 3. Preschool is working it's way through the color-days, one day is blue day, the next time is yellow day, etc. They are asked to wear that color and then they do projects and snacks that are that color. Today was "red" day and hallelujah, we have a red dress. So I thought this morning would be easy.
Attila is also in a tights phase and wants to wear tights with her dresses. Most days- ok fine, you're 3, we have lots of hand-me-down tights, go to town kid. However, the red dress comes with matching leggings. That was NOT ACCEPTABLE to Attila and copious amounts of tears were shed. 3 weeks ago she would ONLY wear the dresses that had leggings, but I guess she broke up with leggings and that is so over. It wouldn't matter except that the red dress is already pretty short on her, and really is more tunic length than dress length. Usually I try not to argue about the clothing choices- it's just not the mountain I am willing to die on- but today she had to suck it up (we were running late by then) and so she just get to pick her socks, shoes & headband.
It was still the end of the world. "I hate this day", "I can't wear these", and my fave "This looks boring, not beautiful!" *sigh*
Then Genghis started crying because she hates the carseat, I hadn't even made any coffee yet, the blueberries fell out of the fridge again, rolling all over the floor, the dog started to eat them up and then changed his mind and spit a whole bunch out, and we were already late for preschool.
We get to preschool and Miss Cindy says "Attila, you look so nice today!"
She turns to me with a big huge smile and says, "It's a good thing I wore this today mama!"

hahahaha! her and leggings broke up. Classic. I only have boys, so I wish I knew more about legging selections that I actually do. But I can tell you all about bugs, and finding super weird things in their pockets!
Ah, those days. I hate those days. Those are the days when some mothers *coughmaybemecough* start thinking longingly about the 5:00 cocktail at, oh, say, 9:00... :)

Thankfully, Kitten doesn't really care what clothes she wears, but Meimei is starting to. As if mornings weren't long enough...
