I can't even tell you how long our bathroom sink faucet has been dripping. I only know it's been a loooooonnngggg time. Too long. At first I tried replacing the aerator (the screen inside the end of the spout) and that worked! For about a week. Then it stopped working and I half- heartedly scanned the internet for how-to fix it. Some things I read made it look easy, some made it look difficult, I got distracted.
Well the dripping had recently gotten worse, so something had to be done and I decided today was the day. Got everything apart and headed to the hardware store for the right sized washer piece. The nice man at the hardware store took one look at it and said, "Oh, this might be tough..." while wandering into an aisle with endless little drawers.
"hmmm... Is this your bathroom faucet? Price Pfister you say?"
Nice Hardware man tells me they don't make our faucet anymore, or any with the ceramic handles. And the little rubber piece I needed? Specially made by PP, for their ceramic line. Which, did I mention? has been discontinued. (this is when I felt like Mr. K)
Then there was a lot of looking, because Nice Hardware man was sure he had seen one just like mine somewhere... or he was sure there had to be an easy substitute... I ended up just buying a whole new stem (which comes with the new kind of washer) and hoping it would work.
It did! It's fixed- no more drip! Yay! I've got to go cross this off the list.
(It's a small thing, I know, but I really needed a "win" this week)

Oh yeah! That's familiar! At least you were smart enough to ask for help & not try to go searching through the million-little-drawers aisle yourself.
Because that way lies madness.
Anyway, yay for you, O Plumber! I bet every time you look at that faucet for the next few weeks, it makes you smile & feel a sense of accomplishment. :) Yay!
That way lies MADNESS! Bwahahaha!
It's a real rush though when you get it to work though isn't it?
Huh. I really thought I'd already replied to this.
Anyway, any plumbing success is a major victory. Way to go, AKJ!
You are so much cooler than I am. I would just assume that I would not be clever enough to fix a faucet and would call the plumber and spend a gazillion dollars on something simple.
