Mmmm.. beer.

I really shouldn't anthropomorphize the car. I am done naming them. It makes it too hard when something goes wrong or you have to give it up or trade it in.
It looks like Yoshi (which someone told us was Japanese for 'Lucky' but all I can find online is that it means 'OK!' or 'All right!' - Oh the irony.) is going to have to go to the shop again. Probably for another tire. We've replaced all 4 tires in the last year or so - all in a crisis moment (i.e. blown on the freeway). We did replace them in pairs and STILL Yoshi got another flat today. This situation on top of everything that has been repaired since we paid the stoopid car off is just too much.
(It should be noted that during Lent, when Kashka was praying for Yoshi, the only thing that broke was the gas cap door. Clearly Kashka has a direct line to the powers that be- which doesn't surprise me in the least.)
This time it was a screw in the tread. Not sure where we picked that up. Maybe they can just do a patch and won't need a whole new tire. I don't know.
I do know that I am beyond itching for a new car. But what kind of new car to get? To lease? To buy? Do we trade in Yoshi and get a "family" vehicle? Do we keep Yoshi and get something cheaper but still reliable? We keep going back and forth. It's tough to decide-and also? I don't really like car shopping. Car day-dreaming sure, but not the actual shopping part.
Of course this all went down in the 2 hour time frame when I was supposed to go pick Dude up from the bus, go to a job interview, and then go to work. Instead, I asked our friend Tami to pick up Dude and then my other plans were canceled and he dealt with AAA. And then I had a beer. Hopefully things will be better tomorrow.

I feel ya, the BFT is in the shop for the second unscheduled time. It has 2,249 miles on it. 2,249!!! I would go for a Toyota Prius if I were you, since the truck was TKO'd, we hauled a full patio furniture set in it as well as jump stared the BFT to get it to the dealership...

The Scion has been very reliable and is quite cheap for a new car. Have Dude sit in it - he'll be pleased with the headroom. And they don't haggle. One price at all dealerships.

If it makes you feel any better, from what I can grasp from the ridiculous amount of anime I've watched, "yosh!" is a very emphatic affirmative, not just a neutral "okay." Yes, I am a gigantic dork.

Anyway, I like both of the previous suggestions. Hybrids rock! But they are in a certain price range, and the Scion is cute and gets the Luther seal of approval.
