Have you bought your leggings for fall yet?

WTF? Apparently this look is coming back. From the 80s/90s. Oh so long ago. Also those peg leg jeans- they are back too. Those jeans were not designed to be anywhere near my calves. If they must recycle fashion, why can't they recycle from the first half of the 20th century when fashion was elegant and lovely?

I realize that I am not exactly a fashion plate to begin with, but I like to think that I do at least have a couple of trendy/updated pieces. But now this? This will firmly push me into the frump zone, because I am not ever going back to skinny legged jeans. Or leggings. Or neon.

I need to know what you think, AKJ, about The Leader coming out on her program earlier this week against women wearing shorts. Ever. I don't think I can subscribe to a belief system that rejects my lifestyle so completely.

What fashion advice I do take comes from GoFugYourself, and they're ardently anti-leggings.

Sheesh! And I just got into the jeans with the flairs at the bottom. I won't be wearing leggings either. And to comment on the not ever wearing shorts thing, I shall use a line from South Park, "Whatever, whatever! I do what I want!"

Yeah, there are around here and they just look... dumb. It gets very stripey looking when they do leggings in (primarily) either black or white, then some itty-bitty skirt, then a tight shirt (often in the leggings color), and then a shrug jacket (often in the skirt color.)

Also, lots of horizontal stripes in shirts and in long, tight tunic type shirts. Again, not a look for me. I'd probably look like a bucket of weird.

I hit frumpville years ago and happily reside there with my jeans, t-shirts and bulky sweaters. But even were that not the case, I wouldn't wear anything that can make even a gorgeous model look like such complete ass. What the hell is going on with that look? The ultra-pleated plaid mini, because gosh, I just can't get enough of the kinderwhore thing! The fitted jacket top with buttons and zippers and That 70s Collar! The "Dorothy's Streetwalking Years" ruby heels. Good lord. Fashion can bite my denim-clad behind.

The problem with leggings and skinny jeans is that they only looked good on us when we were 12 and didn't have hips or curves. When a fashion only looks attracitve on models and 12 year olds it's very irritating. Although the other problem is that people who shouldn't wear leggings or skinny jeans WILL wear them and the rest of us will have to suffer!

I'm going to add that I agree--- the gorgeous model looks like a complete ass dressed like that.

And her knees look knobbly, too.

I figured out who this works for. They sell this for toddlers and it's perfect! Kitten can wear a skirt and still not scuff up her knees from crawling. Cute and functional! For anyone over 2 - not so much.

I also want to say that Amalah hates them too. I know you read her, AKJ, but I love her too and want to share her awesome, funny, and chatty advice with the world!
