Idiocracy

So maybe if you subscribe to an entertainment magazine you already know about this- but me, I get some of my entertainment news from NPR. This morning they were talking about the new Mike Judge (creator of Bevis & Butthead and King of the Hill) movie. Hmmm.. I thought to myself, I didn't know Mike Judge had a new movie! Yeah, apparently no one did, since 20th Century Fox basically said "Well, you can go ahead and make your little movie, but we don't want to risk losing any money, so we are not going to run it through out typical juggernaut of promotion." Or maybe the "no advertising" thing is just a gimmick. Either way, I am dying to see it.
The movie is a satire (of course) and the premise is that Luke Wilson is an average guy. He is average in every possible way, including intelligence. He is selected for a military experiment and wakes up in the year 2505, where he discovers that the country is being run by morons. Everything has been dumbed down so much that he is now the smartest person alive. For example, the big blockbuster movie in 2505 is called "Ass" and it's just 2 hours of someone's ass on screen. Ha! Here's the Idocracy link on IMBD.
See? Don't you want to see it now too? Sadly, it's currently playing in only 7 cities and we are not one of them. :(

Yet Johnny Knoxville just finished making the talk show circut to promote Jackass 2 - which is playing everywhere, was the #1 movie last weekend and has made over $41 million so far. Gah.
