I can't think of anything to write.
Well, that is not exactly true, I can think of things, but they all sound dumb in my head and so I don't want to write about them.
Maybe I will try just making a list:
- I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and got to be with either family or friends or both and that you had plenty of yummy food.
- The older I get, the more Thanksgiving foods I have to eat. I used to be pretty picky so I would just eat turkey, stuffing, potatoes, a roll and some pie. Now, I have to have all that, plus the sweet potatoes, the green beans, the cranberry jello stuff, and anything else that looks good. I am stuffed.
- I only let Attila feed herself foods that she can pick up. (aka finger foods) So I don't just put mashed potatoes (for example) on her tray and let her go to town. I still feed her those "messy" foods with a spoon. My cousin on the other hand, just puts everything on the tray and lets her son (who is only a few weeks older than Attila) go to town. HUGE mess. Now it's not like I don't let Attila get messy, I do, but at home, and not in her holiday dress. And I also give her a spoon so that she can practice with that, but she doesn't really have the hang of that yet. Should I be letting her get more messy? I'm overthinking it, I know. But whenever I see another Mom do something a different way I wonder if that is the way I should be doing things too, KWIM?
- I opted in on the family gift draw. Everyone else was going in, so I didn't want to be the only loser that didn't join in. However there was much double guessing about one branch of the family that we are not sure is going to be there or not. And whether they will want to do gifts or not. (guess which branch has both mine and Dude's name?) We couldn't reach them by phone, so we put them in and then came up with a contingency plan should they decide not to participate. Too many possibilities and it was kind of a headache.
I suggested the dice game for next year. We'll see. - I found out that Lisa- of Salsa Lisa- lives down the street from my Aunt and Uncle. I had no idea. I am trying to figure out how I can get this to work for me.
- Earlier this year HGTV did a Landscaper's Challenge at Salsa Lisa's house. They had to commit to spending $7000 on the renovation. But I guess the designer went over that budget with all of the plantings- so they put the plants in for the show, but then after the filming, the HGTV crew took all of the plants with them! Nice. But they did get a really nice deck out of the deal, so I guess they are happy.
- Did you talk about zombies at your Thanksgiving? Because we did.

I would have avoided the mess away from home and especially in a holiday dress, too.
My capacity for Pumpkin's messes varied (varies!) day to day, but I have to say that I was willing to give her rice when she ate it by the handful much sooner than Mr. Kluges was. We had to take her outside after the first few times and strip her down she had so much rice in and on her. :)
You're letting her feed herself and she's practicing with a spoon and it's a process that takes times and isn't worth overthinking.
We still haven't mastered silverware, much to my embarrassment and mother guilt. Kitten doesn't get very much practice. When she does, she gets frustrated and eats with her hands anyway. Her coordination and motor skills have never been tops.
How does one teach a kid to eat with silverware?
I have two words that will help with the silverware thing....DUCT TAPE!
What is a salsa lisa?
