I voted!

And I have the sticker to prove it. Was pretty uneventful this time around actually- we went after I picked Dude up from work so there wasn't even a line or anything- we walked right in.
Attila did get mistaken for a boy though a couple of times. (I don't know what the hell is up with that. She is wearing a red shirt with a sparkly heart on it that says "little angel" and brown mary jane style shoes. How you could mistake that for a boy, I don't know. I'm sure it's just because she doesn't have a lot of hair yet. Well, that and it's mostly senior citizens that say "he" or "little guy" - I am not sure if they just can't see very well, or if it's just their personal preference. )
At our polling place they have very boring little study carrel type things to vote in. I still remember going with my parents to vote in the 70s when they had the big metal machines, with the levers. My mom used to let me come in the booth with her, and she let me flip the levers once or twice. They also had actual curtains on them- the ones I remember were red, white and blue vertical stripes. That seemed so much more mysterious and patriotic at the same time. There was not nearly enough red, white and blue bunting at my polling location today. Well, there was none, so even one bunting (bunt?) would have been more festive.
Here in my town, we are also voting on a school levy. The local weekly paper ran a photo of a homemade yard sign that said, "Vote No on the XYZ School Levi". Oh Irony! I *heart* the Irony! (Note to self: check spelling before posting any yard signs. Also before hitting that little publish post button.)

Levi? No more jeans? What's happening to my country?

Did you have fancy new electronic voting or the same machines as last time?

No touch screen here, we had to fill in the ovals with a pen, and then slip the paper into the black box to be scanned and counted.
