Another exciting Friday night and I am surfing the web for ideas for armadillo costumes. In my classes this term my youngest students are doing a story adaptation of "Armadillo Rodeo" by Jan Brett. I picked the story thinking about the cute and super easy cowboy/girl costumes! I never thought about the armadillos! I've done lots of animal costumes, bears, dogs, cats, snakes, frogs, turtles, pigs, cows, chickens, a caterpillar, and even an otter. But never an armadillo. The Google did turn up some ideas, so the current plan is to make some kind of gray felt hood with the pointy ears. I think if I have the ears, and maybe the tail, that will give enough of the idea of an armadillo. The rest is going to have to come through character development. Luckily, I've got a couple of weeks to work on it.

Ah, but the question is, will you start it in advance? ;)
If you could rig whatever sort of shell you did for the turtle, you could make it brown and then just put the lines across the middle section if you think the hood and tail aren't cutting it... Just a thought...
