I read this post over at Mom 101 and I had to link to it here. I know there are at least a couple of you who are currently in the "short list" phase of baby naming, and I know there are at least a couple of you who are Jennifers , so I thought it was appropriate- and it made me laugh right out loud.

Wait... short list of names... I think that's on my still long list of to-dos...
:) Pumpkin was Baby Girl LastName for a day or two... I'm going on out a limb here & guessing that Baby-on-the-way will be Baby-now-here LastName for a bit, too.
Ms. Huis, might I suggest "Jennifer"? ;) It's a beautiful name and no one uses it any more... hee hee.
Yeah, I don't get the whole "You took my name" thing -- Back in my day, you didn't blink if someone had the same name as someone else. You'd be at a table full of Jeffs, Karens, Sara(h)s, Mikes, and Jens and YOU DEALT WITH IT.
You know what got us through? Nicknames. They were good enough for our ancestors, and they're good enough for us. Save all that creativity you think you have to cram into 9 pre-natal months for later, when you can use embarrassing personal traits or timely cultural references to distinguish your kid with "Buzz" or "Swede" or "Tootie".
That was hilarious. :-)
I was lucky enough to be able to be the standard 'Jennifer' in most of my classes because so many other Jennifers also had a last name that started with B. My last name was Bowen and I don't think any teacher could put me through the embarrassment of having me be Jennifer Bo or B-O,,, can you imagine the crap I would have taken? When I was an adult though, before I got married, my friends would call me J-Bo. Thank you J-Lo.
Thanks for the link Jennifer! Or is it Jen? J'En? Jennifer #25998347?
In any case...thanks.
That was Great! In my school, it was Sara(h) all the way.
I sure hated my name growing up. Never could find any of those cool pre-printed signs to hang on your bike or stickers or anything with my name on it. Nope. Also, mispronounced ALL THE TIME (let's include the last name in there too). Didn't anyone else take 2nd grade phonics? Grr.
Now, except for the mispronounciation love it, have found it has cool meanings in a ton of languages (one Hindu goddess too), and am so glad mom lost and didn't get to name me Hillary.
Yay for being named after Hindu goddesses. Silly they dropped the original spelling and went with a veggie. Though it does make for fun when you procreate and get to call it a Sprout. We thought we had a name for her, and ended up with a second choice. I would have killed to be a Jennifer when I was younger, especially when all the Jennifers I know are so darn cool.
