What I learned over Labor Day weekend

  1. If left to my own devices, I could eat my weight in cream cheese frosting. For truly, it is the only reason I even agree to eat carrot cake. (It's certainly not for the carrots.)
  2. What an Aerobie is.
  3. Running outside is way harder than running on a treadmill. No, upping the incline to 2% was not enough to really help.
  4. I looked up what J's new Mustang must look like. (I had to know what was driving all the chics wild)
  5. We have a nest of baby bunnies in our front yard. They are wee and so cute:
  6. Female rabbits only feed their young twice a day, at dawn and at dusk. The nest is always "hidden" in plain sight.
  7. I can watch *maybe* 10 laps of NASCAR racing and then I am done.
  8. Bumble bee nests are annual- they are only used for one year and then abandoned. (they all die in the Fall)
  9. We also have a bumble bee nest in our yard.
  10. I never realized I was such a city kid until I moved to the suburbs and had to worry about all this "wildlife".

What an educational and wildlife filled weekend! I think your nest of baby bunnies is way cuter than the bat we found on the stairs (and successfully relocated outside).

Cream cheese frosting - yums!

NASCAR? Yeah, totally with you on that one. "Oh, look at the little cars go 'round... and 'round... and 'round... Ok, how many hours does this race last?"

Your tolerance for NASCAR is higher than mine....unless something crashes.

We learned that about rabbits after ajd mowed over a nest. She came back and moved the nest the next day, but we had to call animal control to determine if we had messed up and prevented her from coming back by touching them. (to make sure we hadn't made rabbit fricase with the mower)

I have a channel flips worth of tolerance for NASCAR

Strange facts I know to add on to yours:
If raising bunnies, be sure to give the adults some salt pork, or they will be likely to eat the young.

Bumble bees, while not agressive at all, usually bite instead of sting. But getting a bite on the ass really hurts when you're young! (Yep, mom put me down on a kid bike seat once right on top of one and couldn't figure out why I was screaming.) They are great pollinators (especially for tomatoes!) and aren't agressive, so keep them around if you can.

The queen will survive through the winter. Females are tough like that.

The only time I can tollerate watching cars going anywhere is A: when I am also driving and B:in a movie.
