This is the same year end meme I did last year (thanks for the idea Kaska!) but I dropped the questions that were boring or where my answer didn't really change.
*****
1. What did you do in 2007 that you’d never done before? Hired an accountant and filed taxes as a business. Started a running program, stuck to it, and finished a 5k. Tried to write a novel. I also ate really good Greek food in Wilmar. Who knew?
2. Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't usually make them, but I've got a couple for this year:
- Run two more 5k races. Maybe even an 8k if I get gutsy.
- Spend less money/time at Target
- take some kind of out of town family vacation.
- potty training is on the list too- but that is not really a personal goal.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Yes.
4. Did anyone close to you die? Not really close to me, but close to my friends. I handled it poorly. Death is still awkward for me.
5. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007? New neighbors? :) A yard that we like to spend time in. We didn't refinish the floors this year, so I still want to get that done. And I am still saving up for a fancy DSLR camera.
6. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Finishing the office, running the 5k, losing 30lbs.
7. What was your biggest failure? Not repairing some relationships, not getting the floors refinished. (OMG shut up about the floors already Jen!)
8. Did you suffer illness or injury? Nope
9. What was the best thing you bought? Best deal? The play food set I got for Attila for christmas - It was originally $119, I got it on sale for $35 and free shipping.
Best for me? I finally found knee high boots to fit my tree-trunk calves. Yay!
10. Where did most of your money go? Target. Gymboree. Title 9 warehouse sale.
12. What did you get really, really, really excited about? A good friend of mine is pregnant and is expecting her first child in Feb. They tried for just over 5 years and I just couldn't be happier for her and her husband.
13. What song will always remind you of 2007? That 1, 2, 3, 4 song.
14. Compared to this time last year, are you a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer? Happier/ thinner/ about the same.
15. What do you wish you’d done more of? Sleeping. Exercising. Traveling. Planning.
16. What do you wish you’d done less of? Stressing, worrying, procrastinating.
17. What was your favorite TV program? Pushing Daisies. Best show ever.
18. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate last year? Rachel Ray got on my nerves this year. Way too overexposed.
19. What was the best book you read this year?
The Glass Castle by Janet Wells.
20. What was your greatest musical discovery? Jeremy Messersmith. And also that my boyfriend from jr. high has his album on iTunes.
21. What was your favorite film this year?
I think I have only seen 2 or 3 movies in the theater this year. I did love Sweeney Todd. But I just saw it, and can't really think of anything else. "Knocked Up" was cute, but didn't live up to the hype for me. I still haven't seen Pan's Labyrinth, but I bet I will like it. Oh, I did also really like the latest Harry Potter.
22. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? I'd like to be better in the moment. Saying just the right thing, having just the right come-back. Accomplishing some long put off tasks would have helped too.
23. What kept you sane? the community center, mom friends who let me know that I am not the only one struggling with fun toddler issues, the internets, working part-time.
24. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Johnny Depp.
25. What political issue stirred you the most? I am already dreading that 2008 is an election year. I hate the way that presidential candidates are now selected in this country.
26. Who was the best new person you met? It must be suzuri- though really, we'd met before this year, it wasn't until earlier this year that I got to really know her at all. I also met some more moms this year who are pretty nice.
27. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007.
"You must do the things you think you can not do." ~Eleanor Roosevelt
How to make roll-out sugar cookies without a huge flour-y mess.
Butternut squash ravioli is yummy
Also, nail polish will melt Styrofoam.
28. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
I can't think of one at the moment... which is driving me a little bit nuts.
Happy New Year!

Your 5K was pretty much on my tops too -- I take some responsibility even if I really had nothing to do with it.
Hell yes you ran a 5k!!! And I was there in spirit,,, even though I only "know" you through the blog world. Can I steal this idea for my blog? I know it's a bit late since 2008 has already begun but I'm lacking ideas for the blog lately and now I'm stealing them. And I completely feel for you in wanting new neighbors,,, mine are real slogs and I wish they'd move. Mean, but true!
30 lbs.?! Holy crap! I knew you were looking particularly svelte, but damn, girl! That's a hell of an accomplishment. I'm very proud of you.
Can't wait to see the boots. As a fellow tree-trunk calves haver, I'm excited and v. jealous.
