This will be a fun post (at least for me to write, maybe not so much for you to read!) - it's just going to be a mish-mash of things I've been saving as "drafts" and other randomness I've been meaning to tell you. See? Fun. Sort of like that dinner you have the night you have to clean out the fridge.
Thing the first; re: The trophy post. I tried to write out and explain the lovely comments we heard from family members, but in black and white they just didn't seem all that bad. Also, you sometimes just have to be there, amidst all the holiday drama, or know the person who is saying it to get the full effect, you know? The worst ones were some lovely sexist comments from my mom's brother whom we don't see very often anyway. (but I still want to know what Veggie's SIL-to-be said...;)
Thing the second, We've made a mutual decision to never play the trophy game at our house again. Funny once, but probably a minefield after that.
Thing the thirdly (this is annoying, I will stop now). Sweeney Todd- a.k.a High School Musical for Goths. (I wish I could take credit for that one, but I just read it somewhere)
I have to say that I love Johnny Depp. Seriously. Love. Genius of our time. The end.
4. Ok, no, I have more to say... Sweeney Todd was every bit as dark and bitter and goth as I dared hope for so I wasn't disappointed at all. The singing was quite decent. It wasn't anything you would go "Wow, good singing" about, but it also wasn't so bad that it detracted from the story or the characters. Helena Bonham Carter was quite good as well. She plays those crazy characters well, because that is all she does these days, but I think she made Mrs. Lovett pretty sympathetic, which not everyone does. I loved the "By the Sea" sequence when Johnny kept the scowl the whole time. Very funny. The young sailor had really weird feminine/alien-ish eyes though. Not in a good way.
5. Someday, when Attila is 15 or so, and really into sleeping in late, I am going to go into her room at the crack of dawn, and wake her up. I will start by climbing in her bed and kicking her about the neck and kidneys. If that doesn't work, I am going to start saying "ca-toon mama, mamamama ca-toon!" and "mama mama, I wake up, mama, mama, wake up, I wake up, mamama" over and over again. If that still doesn't work, I am going to demand juice, milk, cheese and Ice cream until she brings me a banana. Payback will be sweet.
6. Earlier this week(this one is actually from around Thanksgiving) I discovered that I can now understand what the hell Elmo is saying. I used to have no idea- but like learning a foreign language, if you are immersed in it, one day the light-bulb just goes on and you realize he is singing about the goldfish and his focking crayons.
7. Since we're here in toddler TV land, lets talk about Handy Manny. Handy Manny is a
fairly new show on the disknee channel. Manny looks like this, and yet, I found him kind of "hot".
Well, you know, not *really* hot, but I felt kindly towards him and then I figured out that it's really his v
oice that I like. And no wonder, the voice is Wilmer Valderrama from that 70's Show. (soon to be the new Ponch in the CHiPs movie). I will watch Manny over Elmo any day of the week.
8. 8. I forget what 8 was for...
9. I am thinking about repainting the bathroom. But I don't know what color I want. And maybe I will re-do the floor too. It's a small room. It might be a good place to try out some tiling. hmmm...
10. It's January 2nd and my resolution about spending less at Target has already been blown. In my defense, my parents are celebrating their 60th birthdays in a week and a half and I wanted to get them something, even though we don't usually do birthday gifts. Yes, my parent's birthdays are 12 days apart, but they are different signs- my dad is a Capricorn and my mom is an Aquarius.

#5 Made me laugh out loud and nearly snort coffee. Funny!
#7 I knew Handy Manny was the actor who played Fez, but I never thought of him as hot until I saw that picture you have here. Rowrrrr!! I change my vote to "you can come over to my house anytime." ;)
#8 *grin*
Yeah, he was never hot when he was Fez, but he is actually very good looking.
Should I be worried about a future of lusting after pre-school cartoon characters?
I'll explain the SIL comment in person, because typing it out just doesn't have the same effect. But lets just put it this way... ah to be 23 and always right again. I love to be right.
Not related, but she wants to have kids as soon as possible, so she wants to get married sooner rather than later. I personally can't wait for her to be a mom. Or I'm terribly afraid for my future neices/nephews.
To be honest, I also forgot what 8 was for, and I could never figure out what the heck 9 was for..."my lost gauze?"
I believe it's "my lost Gods" - but I think I like your version better.
I thought it was "my lost cause". I don't naturally go to God though... unless referring to myself:)
Huh. I always thought it was "lost cause" too, but "lost Gods" is neat.
This post cracked me up. And Puck totally couldn't stop laughing at #5.
