I am not ashamed to admit that in one weekend I made it to DQ and the new Sonic.
The thin mint blizzard was very good- they do add mint, but it was yummy and the cookie chunks were nice and big, I was not disappointed. I would probably get it again if I was in a minty mood. Overall grade= B+.
I think I went to a Sonic on a road trip once, but I don't remember it very well- we may have just gotten drinks and fries. It obviously was not a highlight. Anyway, I had read that the food was just average but the drinks/shakes were all yummy. That is 100% true. The weird thing was that apparently everyone and their uncle wants to try the new place so they weren't letting people into the normal parking area/drive thru. They had a cop at the driveway sending cars down a couple of parking lots to the "staging area" where you had to get in line for car hop service or to go to the drive thru. We had to wait there for a few minutes before we were allowed to wait in the real drive thru line. It was dinner time, but I've never seen such a thing for a fast food place. Kinda bizarre. So not really worth the wait or the hype. Overall grade = C.
On Fridays, I've been taking some nature classes with Attila through one of our county's nature centers. They read a story, then we take a short hike and then they do a craft thing. This last one was a lot of fun because we got to hike to the pond and they gave all the kids their own little nets to catch stuff in the water. They mostly caught minnows and snails, but there was one dragonfly and one of those water-skater bugs in there too. Overall grade = A (sorry, I don't know where this grading thing came from, but I felt I had to use it all the way through for continuity. Don't judge. Also, I know this last item doesn't really relate at all to the other two topics, but really, isn't that the kind of thing you expect around here? You should be used to that by now.)

Looks like a cool nature class. Stella is going to take a bug class later this summer. Ah, the studies of toddlers... Josh
Oh cool! I used to love those classes when my mom took me to them at Woodlake. Even the one where we ate worm cookies.
The only item I purchase at Sonic is the Cranberry Limeade. I love that drink on a hot day! Where DQ is concerned, it's not really that popular out here, I can't even tell you the last time I went there. I may have to make a trip in this last month of pregnancy while I still have an excuse to eat yummy fattening food!
