The Year in Review

1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before?

This is tough this year! I tried water skiing, but I have tried that before... I sent Attila to both daycare and preschool, but that seems more like her experience than mine...I am sure there is something, but I can't think of it.

2. Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

Ok here they are from last year: (with my notes in this color)
- Run two more 5k races. Maybe even an 8k if I get gutsy.- Nope didn't keep this one, but being pregnant since May kinda put the kibosh on that. (yeah I know some people run while pregnant, but that's just not for me)
- Spend less money/time at Target - less time, yes accomplished. less money? Not sure.
- take some kind of out of town family vacation. -yep! Wisconsin totally counts.
- potty training is on the list too- but that is not really a personal goal. -Done! Well, except night time.
So 2.5 out of 4 isn't too bad! I will make more for 2009 as well, but I haven't narrowed them down yet. That seems like a post to do next week. :)

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes. We got to meet Sam!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes, An old friend's father. I guess I couldn't say we were really "close" anymore but I grew up knowing him.

5. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
(New neighbors? :) <- That is my answer from last year! And it worked! So I better make this good...) And now I am stumped.

6. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Made some money on Summer Workshops

7. What was your biggest failure?
There is a whole list of things that I wanted to do that didn't get done- (mostly home improvement things) but I wouldn't call them failures. Failed to save money I guess.

8. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Just morning sickness, heartburn/reflux and a fall on my knee this week.

9. What was the best thing you bought?
My new point and shoot camera. The other one was a great camera but was too slow for good shots of children. I am still saving up for the DSLR and some fancy lenses, but this was a good way to tide me over.

10. Where did most of your money go? Target. Fixing my car.

11. I don't know what happened to #11...

12. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Expecting baby girl #2 and the election.

13. What song will always remind you of 2008? For Good (from Wicked soundtrack)

14. Compared to this time last year, are you a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer?
The Same/ Fatter (but pregnant so it totally doesn't count!) / about the same.

15. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Saving money. Exercising. Traveling. Planning.

16. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Procrastinating. Spending.

17. What was your favorite TV program?
Pushing Daisies. Best show ever.

18. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate last year?
Kate from that Jon & Kate plus 8 show. She really bugs me.

19. What was the best book you read this year?
The Thirteenth Tale or Shadow of the Wind or A Question of Attraction. I read a lot of good stuff this year.

20. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Joe Pug and Bishop Allen

21. What was your favorite film this year?
Hmmm. I don't see too many movies. I am trying to think of something I rented even...

22. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Oh maybe getting the big-girl bed/room finished before the holidays would have been nice. Saving more money.

23. What kept you sane? Friends

24. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hmmm, I did like the looks of Robert Pattinson, but he's not really my type.

25. What political issue stirred you the most?
The election. The campaign went on way too long but I am happy with how things turned out.

26. Who was the best new person you met?
I think I have to go with my sister's new girlfriend. So far we like her.

27. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
a) DO NOT EAT OR DRINK NEAR YOUR LAPTOP COMPUTER. No, Really. NO LIQUIDS!!! Step away from the refreshing beverage until you are done e-mailing and reading your blogs.
b) Bermuda shorts are not for me.
c) Pusher makes a mean margarita (but I love her for it and I will be over at her house demanding one in about oh, 40 days or so :)

28. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
Because I knew you
I have been changed
for good

Happy New Year! I hope your 2009 kicks ass over your 2008!

As long as we don't lose a third of our retirement like we did this year I am thinking 2009 is going to be much better than 2008! This was a fun read.

I hope the last trimester of your pregnancy is treating you well! Oh... and that you can turn over in bed at night without crying because of the hip pain. Or am I the only lucky one who that problem afflicts?
