Not Martha

Not even Martha's daughter, Alexis.
So about a year ago, I came across this site which is a tutorial on how to make a darling little girl's dress out of an old man's shirt. It promised that no pattern was needed and that was all I needed to hear to know that this project was for me.  I am mostly a self-taught "seamstress" and most of my creations have been made for theater use, which means they only have to look good from the front row. (read: 20' away) I've been known to use hem tape and hot glue and just kind of make things up as I go along.  So someone with more experience and knowledge could probably knock this out in about an hour, no problem. It took me about 2 hours total- with little girl interruptions -and I didn't have any trim.  It needs trim, and maybe to be ironed.  Oh, I also ripped the back when I took the pocket off (that baby was sewed on tight!) so I kind of knew putting it together that this was going to be a play dress.

Front:
Back: (yeah, the buttons aren't *quite* in the center...)

Knowing what I know now, I may try one again, but for now I am just glad to be able to cross this off the "Projects-I've-been-meaning-to-do, but-never-make-time-for" list.  PIBMTD,BNMTF List. :)

I love it, and now I want to try it. I wonder if A will give up a shirt to the cause.
