When did that happen?
Sorry for the lack of postings lately- like I said, the end of the school year/ start of summer gets busy around here. The good news is that we had our end of term show on Sat. and all went well- not the best show, but not the worst. I didn't forget anything important...Oh wait, grapes, I forgot grapes, but the kid who needed them just mimed them and it worked out fine. The kids who didn't have it together at all last week did a great job and really pulled it off well, but I was a little surprised that the older kids who have been doing really well all along seemed a little bit off the day of the show. Ah well, that's show business for you!
For the first time it all seemed like a LOT of work for very little pay off. I know that's the nature of theatre and all, but for some reason, this time really got to me. There was just so much to do and not enough time and some of it I just had to let go. For example, I didn't get any pictures taken (one of my teachers did though so I should have some soon). Maybe I am getting old. It's possible that it takes three 30-something Jens to do the work of one 20-something Jen. It's also possible that my teachers should have helped more than they did. I am not sure if I wasn't clear that I wanted help setting up, or if they just flaked out. Probably, I need to be more specific.
Anyway- onward to summer. This week- costuming & scheduling for Mulan. Whee! 50+ kids signed up for next week. Double whee!
Attila had her first day at "school" today- she's going to daycare for the weeks that I am working this summer, so she's there a couple of days this week to get used to it. Today she walked right in and sat down with the other kids who were singing with the teacher. She barely said goodbye to me. The day we did the tour, she lined up and washed her hands and then sat down for snack, like she was going to stick around. She just loves other kids, and she acts like she's been going to daycare her whole life. She has stayed at the kid care at our community center before, (and she loved that too) but the longest she'd been there was 3 hours or so, so this was definitely a long day for her- but she did really well and even took a short nap for them. I felt like a spoiled lady of leisure getting things done without the toddler in tow, but I did start to really miss her about halfway through the day. I am really glad that she likes it so much though.
