Neighbor Update

Our cranky neighbors seem to be gone for good! (and they didn't even say goodbye...) Back in April we saw them a couple of times - just here and there and we thought they were a) working on either moving back in for the summer or b) putting the house back on the market since it didn't sell last year. Then we didn't see them for awhile.
Maybe a month later, we started seeing a different car in the driveway. Then the door was propped open and there was what appeared to be a family running in and out of the house. (but not moving anything in.)
We thought that someone actually had bought the house (before it even got back on the market?) or that the cranky neighbors had rented it out. It seemed like the people moving in were doing some pretty hefty work/yard cleaning. And we also saw them tearing something (paneling? drywall?) out of a bedroom -so we decided that either they had actually bought the place or that they were relatives of the cranks.
Well, a couple of weeks ago, the Dude was outside with the dog and the "Dad" next door waved to say hello. Dude went to talk to "Jerry" and he said that the realtor had bought the house from the cranks and was now renting it out to them. He said something about maybe buying in the future, so I don't know if it's a rent to own thing or what. Sounds like the realtor set herself up an investment opportunity. I bet she rents it for a few years and then sells it when the market is better.
Jerry and the fam seem like nice people. I think it's him, his wife and they have 2 or 3 older girls. (the girls have friends, so it's hard to tell which ones really live there yet) I am going to have to find out if the older one is old enough to babysit- how convinient would that be?! They are sometimes a little loud in the yard; one nice weekend we were treated to their entire U2 collection. But it was nice out and at least it was U2. Jerry said his wife runs an e-bay business, but we haven't met her yet. Oh and Jerry seems to be using the garage/shed to do some kind of metal/artwork thing that I am very curious to see. I guess I am going to have to do some yard work at an opportune time and try to check it out.
So, all in all they seem pretty nice, and are certainly nicer than Joann was. And they haven't thrown any weeds or anything over into our yard. That always helps.

You know, I was just wondering about them the other day. Hasta la vista, cranky neighbors! Here's hoping the new ones turn out nice.

Our previous owners also sold before the sign went back up, so some of the neighbors were all, "and you're who then?"

Sounds like they're being productive as renters go, but I'm a bit biased against rental given my neighborhood.
And score if you get a babysitter out of the deal.

Hasta la vista, Crankies!

Normally I would be with Veggie and a little leery of renters, but if it's maybe a rent-to-own sort of deal, that increases the odds that they'll keep up with the work they've been doing.

Here's hoping you just found a new babysitter...
