Over the weekend we moved what was the guest bed into our bedroom to make way for the Big Girl bedroom to make way for the new baby. The guest bed is bigger than ours was, so that is nice, but it has one of those bookcase headboards on it. In a way, this is good, because we can do away with bedside tables in a room that is already too small, but in a way- meh. I don't like the look so much. (but it will have to do for a while - my dream bedroom isn't really in the budget right now). So, because I HAVE to read every night before I go to sleep, I needed to get a lamp. I fear the old lamps we had would have fallen off the new headboard and conked us in our sleep- no good. They didn't have anything even close to what I wanted at Target, so I decided a trip to IKEA was necessary. I found two little clamp style halogen lights and brought them home.
The lamp comes with a wee little halogen bulb that has 2 wee little prongs that need to get plugged into two wee little prong receptacles. The wee little bulb was too wee for my fat American fingers to hold onto while lining up the bulb in the shade thingy. I looked at the instruction sheet- nothing, just a picture telling me not to wrap the light cord around a curtain rod. But because I am stubborn, I just kept trying and trying. After a little swearing, I got the kitchen tongs out (because they are skinnier than my fingers) and tried to push the bulb in using them as a tool, while thinking this is the dumbest thing ever. I tried to see if the shade came unscrewed, nope all one piece. Finally, I put the bulb on the table, prongs up, and then put the light on top of it. A little finagling and it went in! Yay! Am genius!
Went back to the box to get the power cord and there is a little suction cup thingy. "Oh," I think, "What's this for?"
The suction cup is a handle for the wee little halogen bulb that was so impossible to put in. There was a picture on the other side of the instructions.
Of course. *sigh*

I have many of those blindingly intellegent moments myself.
Also, you're pregnant?!?
LOL, esp. with the repetition of "wee."
Also, congrats & very subtle way of announcing it there, Ms. AKJ!
(Hey, I totally have a good idea for a Halloween costume for you. You can go as an oven, with a door that opens, and then on your tummy, tape a little paper "bun." Tee hee!)
Just a comment on the Halloween costume. I saw a Hershey Candy bar one and it said,"Here She IS" and pointed to belly. Just a thought!!
